When was the last time you were moved to tears?

Today meeting a woman Kim further clarified my desire to reach out to women who are hurting. She was an older woman by the side of the road with the all too familiar sign. She was in obvious distress with her head bent to her chest, avoiding eye contact. It was a scene that tore at my heart immediately. When our encounter happened it was over a bag of food, hot coffee, and a much needed pair of gloves. I was able to embrace and hold her while we both cried. The tears were genuine as they washed over us. Kim was able to allow herself to be held in the arms of another woman. For me it was the freedom to feel a deep overwhelming compassion and love for someone I did not know. We were connected through her pain. The encounter left me feeling a deep association with this woman that I may never see again, but certainly will never forget. As I drove away I felt the honor of having spent time comforting another person, and could only think what I could have missed had I not stopped.

Are you walking in the footsteps of women who have gone before you?

Have you found your calling yet?
