Coming back to the central foundation of this blog, Believing Women in Conversation, and understanding that it is rooted in the words that we speak is important. It is certainly about the words that we use in conversation to edify one another, and to bring clarity and wisdom, but it is equally important that we understand that the words we speak to those outside of the family of God are meant to transform.
As believing women we should hold ourselves to a higher standard because we know that there is power in the words that we speak, and with the knowledge that our words can bless or curse there comes much responsibility. The words that we speak out of our mouths are declaring what we believe in our hearts, and once they have been released we are decreeing life or death with those very words. Therefore, words that we speak in love bring life to not only the recipient, but to us. Conversely, words spoken in anger that bring division and pain become death to our very soul, and they will be words that we will often reflect upon and wonder why we said them.
What has recently become very evident to me is that what we declare and decree is very significant. Significant because as we speak we are declaring what we believe to be true, and then by decreeing it we have no doubt that we will see it done. Such is the power that we have with our words. As believers we have been given authority to speak the word of God as we minister to others, and then we get to see first hand how those words bring light and life into dark places. God spoke and all that we see came into existence, and He has given us that same authority to use our words to speak what the person standing directly in front of us needs to hear. All need to hear words from our lips that bring glory and honor to the Word!
John 1:1 CSB In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Colossians 3:16-17 CSB “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
