Can we all agree that life is precious?

I am so aware that my days are important and that I should not waste a moment. This means that I want to be used by God in powerful life changing ways to those that I know and meet. It is through these encounters that I want to see His hand stretching me,  while drawing knowledge of His ways out of deep waters. Psalm 42:7 “deep calls unto deep.” His ways are what I need to know and understand if I am going to be of use in His kingdom.

For all of us there are many things that work to pull us away from our focus and take us to a backstreet where we are not visibly relevant. The danger comes with allowing these distractions to take hold, leading us down a path of uncertainty and doubt where we can find that we are no longer following our dreams. Instead of action we look to find comfort in assuming that complacency is safe and that we will be spared disappointment. Sometimes it is better to act swiftly as you are faced with challenges that seem impossible, and to measure your response later when you are on the other side. We all too often talk ourselves out of moving forward, instead finding faults and objections as to why we will not succeed.

The old adage "better safe than sorry" is riddled with flaws, and just an excuse for not taking risks, risks that are usually necessary as we pursue our dreams. I recently heard someone share that the language of creativity and the language of dreams keeps you pursuing the most excellent part of what you need to accomplish.  Perhaps even taking it beyond the need to accomplish and placing it as an absolute must as you step out.  As living beings, created in the image of God, our lives have a specific purpose and destination. What we accomplish is directly connected to how we tap into that purpose and get to our destiny. We are not mistakenly here to live out our days, but to find and experience that which belongs to us.

Today has been a day of reflection as I have continued to think of the woman I wrote of yesterday and how her life has impacted mine.

For that reason I want to be someone who leaves a lasting impression on another individual and that I actually leave him or her better than I found them. That my words are attentive and sensitive to who I see before me, and that regardless of how brief the encounter, if they need courage I give courage, sympathy I extend understanding, and if they need love that I give it freely and do not hold back!
