As spring approaches each year, I find that I am looking around with a discerning eye to see what needs attention. It will usually begin with a mental list. I am aware that some areas will need more attention than others, but I know a careful assessment will give me clear direction, so that I can then develop a plan.
I am thinking of our woman in Proverbs who seems to set the standard for us all. She is someone who keeps us purposefully motivated, not motivated by performance, but motivated by the love she has for her family.
A woman who is motivated to accomplish what she sees as relevant for herself, and her family, will not miss any important cues when it comes to situations that need attention. She will be very aware of her overriding responsibility to those that depend on her insight and spiritual discernment. For this woman knows the importance of being alert, recognizing and maintaining her God given purpose, and keeping it clearly visible at all times. She is not someone who becomes easily distracted or loses her way. It is this focus, that becomes an example to others of what can be expected when someone is rightly motivated to pursue what is good. In pursuing good, she is pursuing God. From this determination will come a life that accomplishes what is before her, as she meets the challenges and demands of the day, while not losing sight of her personal identity and calling.
Proverbs 31:27 NIV "She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness."
