I have talked about fear before, but for obvious reasons it continues to rear its ugly head. We know that fear is a spirit, and it wants to become powerfully entrenched in our lives. For some reason we seem to tolerate it, as if it were the unwelcome guest who doesn't know when to go home!
They don't know when to go home, and we apparently seem reluctant to offend them. We want to politely say please leave, but instead we make excuses as to why it is too difficult to confront them. The truth is that we allow them to stay even though it is unhealthy to have them around, such is the spirit of fear. The longer it is allowed to linger, the more liberties it thinks it can take from us. One being, that we become fearful to stand up to fear!
Emphatically speaking, there is only one way to rid ourselves of this troublesome guest. You don't ask it to leave, you demand that it go! You have the authority to do this in accordance with God's word. You and I do not have to tolerate interference of this kind. We can say go, knowing that we are backed up by what God has said, and that is more than enough.
The spirit of fear tells us to be worried and concerned, but the Spirit of God says, "Do not be afraid."
Isaiah 41:10 NV So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
