Are you all in, or still operating on the fringes? Sometimes I think that we assume that by holding back and playing it safe, it is actually a sign of wisdom. We could be reacting to fear, instead of taking the next step.
We have all been dragged into participating at times in things that we have no interest. We might even go as far as to say they are not under our spiritual gifts heading. Nonetheless, we did step up, even if reluctantly. Sometimes it is purely because there was no one else to fill the slot, and we were somewhat willing. Thankfully, God can use even our small sized willingness to do a big thing in the kingdom, and simply because we said yes, when everyone else had good reason to say no and they did.
It is our willingness to dig in and help that can even introduce us to something totally new that we never imagined we would enjoy. That new area may become an open door that you will be thankful you actually walked through, resulting in an increased openness to participation in the future.
This is called stepping out of the boat, and when we do, we may find ourselves encouraging others to do the same thing. Come on in the water is fine, comes to my mind immediately!
2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
