Everyone that I know has a voice, which means that they do have something to say. The question today is not so much about our ability to speak, but about our passion to speak into a specific area. A friend recently shared her personal frustrations with what is going on in this world in which we live. She was not complaining, but she was somewhat at a loss as to how to begin to impact a particular situation for real change. I applaud her enthusiasm as she considers how best to approach the subject.
Our conversation stirred within me my own personal passion for justice on a subject that has burned within me since I was a teenager.
Today, as I thought of how to constructively advance a solution for a problem that has become very much a global condition, I can see where you could feel dwarfed by its idea. An idea that may seem impossible when you look at the entire piece as one, but manageable if you see it in parts.
Then, I thought of the Scripture we were studying the other day in Ephesians where Paul implores his fellow followers of Christ to stand firm. I thought of standing firm for what we believe, and how without speaking a word we are actually saying volumes. We can exercise our voice, that is obvious to many, and we have not spoken a single word.
I know we all must be ready to give an account as to why we believe what we believe, but sometimes the silent stand that we take can be the most powerful message that we can give. Not silent when we know we need to speak, then we should speak loud and clear. I am referring to a time when words alone can’t deliver a message any clearer than taking a firm visible stand in faith. In faith, we stand knowing that God sees us and He knows that our heart is to see justice prevail. Justice for the unborn who do not have a voice in the choice that many of their mothers are making. We can take a stand for many who can not stand on their own, stand together, and we can pray.
Proverbs 31:8 CSB Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed.
1 Peter 3:9 NKJV not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
