Are we embracing our own femininity?

I am a woman who not only enjoys being a woman, but I embrace my femininity. My assumption is that if you are reading this post, then chances are you too are a woman. So, my question to you is this, “Are you embracing what it means to be feminine?” And, not only what it means to be feminine, but what it means for you?

I feel that this question is super important because femininity will look different on all of us. We may all be women, but how that is displayed on each of us will not look the same, and that is fine. We don’t have to model ourselves in the same way that our sister does. Although we may admire her, we don’t have to look like her!

This was the conversation that I was having with myself this morning as I was at my mirror getting ready for the day. I felt that the Holy Spirit was pointing out my girliness, and I began to laugh. I realized how much I love all the girl things about me, about my daughters, granddaughters, and the many women that I love. We shop together, talk about shoes and bags, and yet we are much deeper than these things. Nor do we let them define, or restrict us. Our exterior could give others the impression that we are weak, but they would be wrong.

Our conversations are centered around the power that we know God has made available to us. Power to pray for each other, power to not only intercede for the people that we love, but for the world. And, I believe we can all agree that there is nothing timid about praying for the world. Honestly, the world needs our prayers, and not just because it is a nice thing to do, but because we know that it is in need of Jesus.

The other day, as I looked at the many women in my church, the Holy Spirit allowed me to see beneath the surface. Beneath the beautiful exterior I saw the strength that they carry. It is strength that has come as a result of spending time with God. Time where He has spoken into them personally and taught them how to stand, and fight. The fighting is not in their own strength, but in the strength given by God.

A woman that has a ministry to women of all ages has written a book that specifically speaks about this subject. The woman is Lisa Bevere and her book is entitled, “Girls with Swords.” Sounds like a good read to me!

Ephesians 6:14-17 CSB Stand therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God.

What are we doing to show the love of God?

Who said that?
