What do you have in your hand?

This was a question that was asked recently in a study that I am doing. At first glance you may not see the significance, but if you look closer you may, like me, make a connection.

Sometimes we bring to the table something that no one else can, as was the case with a small boy who had two fish and five loaves (John 6:9). From that meager amount came the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000. And then we all know the Scripture in Exodus where God instructs Moses to lift up his rod, and stretch out his hand over the Red Sea and divide it (Exodus 14:16). These are only two examples, but they do show us that there is relevance in what we have in our hands.

As I said in the last paragraph, ‘sometimes we bring to the table something that no one else can.’ That something may be our experience, our vision, our sense of obedience, or even our willingness to trust God when we can’t see where we are going. Either way, it is a powerful statement that we make when we utilize what we have available to us, and then get to witness how God will use it for good. A good that does more than just bless us, but one that has an overreaching effect on many.
