Last week in the southeastern part of the United States we once again saw a hurricane hit with devastating results. This being the case, I know that there were many people across the country who felt led to pray for those who were directly effected.
As believers we are quick to pray when we see others in need, for we know that there is power in our petitions to God. We are moved to pray as our hearts feel the desperate need in others, knowing that God responds to our prayers. For many of us we daily intercede for family and friends who are in need of a miracle, and praying becomes a natural part of our spiritual walk.
I believe that by standing in agreement with God, as we ask for His blessings over the ones we love, we are changed in the process. Our prayers become what we need to do, as much as the individuals for which we are interceding, need to receive.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
James 5:16 NKJV Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much.
