Are we self-assured and prepared?

I love this time of year. The days are clearly getting shorter, there is a chill in the air, the leaves are beginning to transition to their awesome display, and I become very aware that I start to make seasonal preparation to protect my plants from the worst of the impending weather. As I was doing this yesterday, I recalled the woman in Proverbs that is quick to draw me in.

There are many who are ill prepared for what potentially is around the corner, causing stress and anxiety that weighs heavily upon them.  In Proverbs 31:18 our woman is confident in what she has, and is ready for each day.  She is watchful and prepared, knowing what she needs, and making sure that she has taken care not to fall short. She is led by the Spirit of God. Being prepared eases her burdens in a world that is forever changing, and knowing that God has made a way when all else fails gives her that needed security.

Our woman knows that God is for her and not against her, and that He is trustworthy as she looks for guidance in making necessary preparations. Her surefootedness to continually move forward comes not from pride, but from certainty in the ability that God has fostered within her. There will be nothing left to chance and all will be in order.

1 Corinthians 14:40 CSB But everything is to be done decently and in order.
