Over the weekend I spent a great deal of time with my grandchildren, and what occurred to me was how our individual thoughts take us to many different places. Truthfully, we can never be in another human being’s mind, but we can often see what they are thinking by where they are going.
We have read in Proverbs, “As a man thinks, so he is,” man referring to mankind. We have all seen this play out in our own lives and those of the people around us. If we think that we are lacking the talent or ability to go in a direction that calls to us, then we will likely not choose to pursue it. Our thinking can certainly drive us into making decisions based on what we perceive that we lack, instead of what we can accomplish. It is what keeps many of us from taking those steps to reach for more than we see available to us today. To say that we are defined by our thinking is putting it mildly. If we think that we are not capable, then we will believe that is it true.
Thankfully, God’s Word tells us something quite different. By God’s standard we have been given the mind of Christ which is never limiting, but all encompassing! When we fully grasp this gift that we have, it frees us to imagine, dream, believe, and act upon those thoughts. Just as Christ has no limits on His thinking, neither do we. We are in Christ Jesus and His thought’s enable us to look beyond what we would see as impossible.
Romans 12:2 CSB Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
