There was an advertisement years ago from a company called Calgon and their slogan was "Calgon take me away,” so when a young woman recently told me that she and her friends were feeling over committed I asked her to send me something for the blog, and I am happy to say she did!
Too often there is too much to accomplish, too much to ponder, and too much to finish. We feel depleted of resources, and yet our lives continue to demand our time and energy. Knowing that our calling and our destiny are vital to feeling fulfilled in life, if all we do is pursue without taking time to hit the pause button, we risk experiencing burn out. In order to maintain a perspective from a place of balance we need to take time to simply stop.
The word says, “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. There is a purpose to this stillness, for in this time we can dial down and soak in the presence of God. In this soaking we are renewed, refreshed, and ready to continue.
Our lives need to be like the ebb and flow of the tide. We come in and soak in the presence of Jesus then go out and do. The importance comes in recognizing if you are in a season of soaking or pouring out, but no matter the season the stillness is vital.
We need to come to Jesus and allow Him to fill us up before we step out into our calling. As we spend time with Him we gain clarity about our lives, about our identity, and certainly about His identity, and then with a fresh vision to charge ahead for the kingdom, off we go!
Thanks friend, well said!
