What flavors would you use to describe you?

This morning sitting in my kitchen eating breakfast, I am remembering a program last night where a chef was thinking outside of the normal box as he attempted to make food that was surprising, and yet tasty. This has me wondering how I can look at what is going on around me in a more insightful way and gather a different more in-depth knowledge of how best to precede. I want to be creative in my approach to what I am doing, seeing the unseen from a perspective of what I can learn, and believing it will open up much in the way of my interactions with others.  It really involves looking with spiritual eyes to see that unseen that can bring freshness to what is all around us. The kingdom of God is everywhere, but all too often we are looking away and can miss some important cues that the Holy Spirit is giving us. These are cues I do not want to miss.

Like a chef builds his creation, putting one amazing ingredient on another, so our lives are shaped and transformed by our experiences. Within those experiences are the fulfillment of dreams, which can bring the flavor of destiny, as well as times of sorrow or disappointment, which carry that strong flavor of strength and resiliency.

It is the combination of these that become totally amazing, and totally unique. No one has the same experiences, calling, passions, or dreams. We are all moved by similar emotions, but how those emotions become part of our makeup is individual.  It becomes so interesting when we meet people that inspire us, as a new understanding of their character is revealed when we get inside their stories.

Last week I spoke about so many different moving parts that make us who we are today, as I shared of the women I met and their stories. I believe what is important here is that even as those around us bring inspiration, that we don’t lose perspective of our stories. Stories that are still in the making and being flavored along the way.

The other day I went to have a conversation with a woman that I admire and found another woman in her place. I came away, not with disappointment, but with excitement that comes when we taste something new and like it.

The flavor of my life will be different from yours, but isn’t it awesome when we taste something new and just by allowing it to marinate we can see that it is indeed good.

Psalm 35:8 NIV Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.

Is what you are saying important enough to keep saying it?
