Have you lingered too long?

Seasons come and seasons go, sounds like the name of a song, but in truth it is exactly what happens. We enter into a season with certainty, knowing that it will eventually come to an end. Most of us are good about seasonal changes, maybe because whether we resist or not, they are still going to happen.

Where life decisions are concerned, we are not always as quick to leave the familiar behind. Heading into the unknown, without guarantees that we will like what we get, is sometimes enough to give us pause. It is when we pause too long, that it might be a conscious case of lingering.

Sometimes God comes knocking at the door with something different for us, and we attempt to shape it from a small narrow perspective. While we are focusing on the changes it will bring, He wants us to see the opportunities, and as we see all the adjustments we will have to make, He wants us to see adventure. This reluctant attitude can actually take what is a gift, and turn it into what appears to be a hardship, and it is then that we have to do some serious self-examination.

If we examine closely the root of our trepidation, it has a way of flushing out what is not healthy, causing us to further appraise our heart condition. It can be difficult, but in the end we will be glad we did.

When a personal season is coming to an end, and the Lord is calling us out, we can take that step in peace and with a sound mind, knowing He will not deny us the answers we seek along the way. All that remains is to venture out courageously, knowing that God is faithful, and is always true to His promises.

Hebrews 11:8 NKJ  “ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called out to a place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going.”
