I was on an island off the coast of Georgia with my husband a few summers ago, enjoying the sun and water; when I became aware of the words, 'chronicle the journey.' Without fully understanding, I can tell you I immediately felt their significance to what lay ahead.
It was an easy start as I already found pleasure in keeping a journal, only now I felt it was more of an assignment, and not just for me. This assignment took on a life of its own, as I found myself writing down what the Holy Spirit was showing or speaking to me. Sometimes random words, not related to what I was actually seeing, or a deeper revelation regarding what was unfolding right in front of me. Either way I knew that these words would have significance at some point. The importance was in not losing them.
If you are already someone who journals, then you know how God speaks through these moments when you may not understand fully what is going on around you, but how later you can look back and actually connect the dots. I know I get powerfully blessed when I can see how God was moving at a difficult time, and how His promises were there to hold me up.
This intentional recording keeping is, and will always remain an important facet of my life. As important as it has become to me personally, it is often what I will share with women as we talk about hearing from the Lord. When you keep a record, it is a clear witness that God has been speaking. Even during those quiet times His voice comes through loud and clear.
Later today I will be traveling for a week to visit family, and friends in my home state, and already the Lord is speaking to me about those visits. I have begun to journal in anticipation, praying for divine connections as I go through airports, and I guarantee that I will not be disappointed.
Jeremiah 30:2 ESV "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you."
