Approval is a big deal to most of us, and especially from those that we choose to emulate. We want those individuals who have a voice that speaks similar to our own to have admiration for us. Why? Because there is a certain amount of satisfaction that is undeniable when you know that you are approved.
Last night I was in the company of some amazing women, who seem to think that I am pretty cool as well. It was easy to be around them because there is a comfort level that is obvious. They have known each other for some time and are clearly friends, and even though they have shared much together, whereas I have not, their acceptance of me was very real. This kind of good fellowship can not be forced. It was lovely and I felt special.
This is not unlike feeling that we are special to God. It is a deep knowing that He loves us and is pleased with who we are becoming. This kind of approval by God makes for a peaceful and joyful life because we know, and experience unconditional love. To know unconditional love is the most intimate level of approval. The reason it is so life changing is because we know that God's love will not be taken from us. We are secure and safe, and it pleases God when we believe in Him and trust that we have His favor!
2 Corinthians 10:18 ESV For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
