The other day while driving on a very familiar road I was struck by a desire to look deeper. By this I mean that my eyes were focused on the road, but I was aware that there was much to see that was hidden behind the tree lines. I could only look quickly for safety reasons, but it was clear to me that looking beyond what was discernible would bring a hidden perspective into the open.
I was struck later in the day how often we see what we expect to see, without pressing in to see more. It is that more that can give understanding that we need. An understanding of people and situations that would enable us to be of greater value.
I believe there are some women in the shadows, and on the fringes, who need to experience the love of other women and fellowship that is meaningful. They are women who carry wounds that keep them on the outside. For many it is fear of rejection that doesn't allow them to be transparent, even when they long to be.
What really tugs at my heart is when we miss the hurting signs that a woman is displaying. I know I have mentioned this before in previous posts, but today I know it needs to be said again.
We all need to be looking beyond the veil. Seeing with both our eyes and our hearts, and when we do see something that is not quite right, we now have an opportunity. An opportunity to say to that woman, "I see you!"
Galatians 5:14 ESV For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as your self."
