Who sent you?

I do love this question because it is really asking us to look closely at the person standing in front of us. While we may initially believe the words that are coming out of their mouth, we do want clarification that what we are hearing is actually true.

I read an article recently of a woman living in a remote place who is an authority to all who come to the area. This is not a destination where people travel to casually, but they come having made a commitment knowing they will be physically and emotionally challenged. To all that come she is responsibly caring, but to those that make repeat visits she facilitates further opportunities. This woman justifies her action by simply stating that she knows when people come back for a second time they are looking for more, and she is happy to bring them the more.

So, how does this woman facilitate the more? She directs these individuals to go out and to tell the people that they meet along the way that she has sent them. Her promise is that by mentioning her name, doors that would be otherwise closed to them will be opened wide.

This is a great example for us all when we are looking to discern if the Lord has sent who is standing in front of us. When out of their mouth we are recognizing the voice of the Lord, hearing words that are in accordance with His Word, and His character, then I believe we can trust the willing vessel.

Luke 19:33-35 NIV As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They replied, “The Lord needs it.” They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.

Does the idea of going back cause you to shudder?

Does walking as an overcomer help define you?
