As women it is customary to take our husband’s name. When our oldest daughter got married, she was excited about being joined to her husband, but she was reluctant to leave her father’s name behind. She is a woman who has always honored her father and recognized the impact he makes in her life.
How about our heavenly Father and His name? Do we recognize that His very Spirit has taken up residence within our bodies thereby connecting us to Him? While it is true that Jesus is the Father’s Son, we are His sons and daughters. Our inheritance of eternal worth is from the lineage of our Heavenly Father. We honor our fathers here on earth, but there will be a time when we truly understand what it means to be children of the Most High God.
Let’s say this together, the Ancient of Days is my Father! We have been created in His image, so when the Father looks at us there is the resemblance, and He claims us as His own. It certainly doesn’t get any better than that, or perhaps more terrifying. It is in reverent awe of our Father that we respect His authority and uncontainable power, but it is His love that will beckon us to come.
Daniel 7:9-10 CSB “As I kept watching, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair on His head like whitest wool. His throne was flaming fire; its wheels were blazing fire. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands served Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was convened and the books were opened.”
