Would you willingly sacrifice to benefit another person?

I know of a woman who has decided that she wants to see her husband live long doing what he has always dreamed of doing. She has witnessed first hand how working in a demanding industry has effected her man, and so she has suggested they make a change. By doing this, she has offered him freedom. Using my words, she has given him the liberty to exit right!

When I heard this believing woman express that her deepest desire is to see that her husband live a long life, I was very moved. The first thing that came to mind when I heard this was simple. Her husband is a blessed man to have a wife that puts quality of life over position, and possessions.

A Scripture in Ephesians, that most of us know, states that a man should love his wife in the same manner as Jesus loves the church. More specific is Ephesians 5:28 which says, “In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” It certainly can’t get any better than that.

For me, it is understandable why this woman would give up the life that she has become accustomed to living for her husband’s well-being. He would do it for her, and has been for many years!

She has been his treasure, a treasure that he has treated with the uppermost care. Furthermore, she has felt like a treasure, and with love there really is no sacrifice that is too great.

John 3:16 CSB “For God loved the world in this way; He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
