Does life have you rejoicing?

Over two years ago I was moved by the March of Life. I was humbled by the example of love, understanding, compassion, and determination that rang out from the crowd. They were men and women who had come forward to speak out for those who were silent in the womb and who were vulnerable to the decisions that someone else would make. Yet, they were not really silent. Their heartbeat told us that they were alive.

I felt compassion for those with such a decision. Wisdom and love must be foremost in our speech to those who see only one option open to them, and then discernment must be what drives us forward as we speak into their lives.

Now fast forward two years and we are rejoicing over a bill passed in Georgia. It demands that anyone who is considering an abortion under this new mandate must understand that the highest law in the land, in the state of Georgia, has claimed that at 6 weeks the heartbeat of the unborn child confirms life. Therefore, no abortion is allowed to take place. The law of the land stands firm in declaring life is present, and protected.

The heartbeat of the smallest of human beings cries out to be acknowledged, recognized as having rights, and allowed to have a heart that beats with the rhythm of life.

Genesis 1:27 NKJV So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Psalm 139:13-15 CSB For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.

Does obedience usher in significance?
