Obedience does not go unnoticed. We are told when we are young if we honor our mothers and fathers it will go well for us. This is just one of many examples where we know that obedience is responsible for blessings. Peter responded in obedience, when it was against everything he knew as a Jew, and yet he went to the house of Cornelius, a Gentile. That step of obedience brought salvation to that house, and to many afterwards.
The other evening I heard a pastor share how the obedience of a retired painter and his wife was enough to usher in a wave of healings. This man and his wife were stepping out in obedience as they responded to the call to love others. They did this as they came forward to pray for a man in need. A man who had everything to gain and nothing to lose. He had not walked for so long his muscles had completely atrophied.
This humble painter and his wife prayed for this man and before their very eyes they experienced a miracle. The crippled man was indeed restored, and they witnessed his muscle mass rebuild itself to support his skeletal body. They stepped out in obedience and faith. Their step was in obedience, and God did the healing.
This man and his wife witnessed what an act of obedience can accomplish. Many of us step forward when we are called, and we don’t see this kind of miracle. And yet, we are still called to answer in obedience, pray for others, and step forward in faith.
isaiah 6:8 NKJV Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying; “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
