Is your investment paying dividends?

None of us likes to invest in anything that does not give a return. This may be our time, our energy, our resources, or basically anything that we have to give to someone else. We know that our days are numbered, and so we should not be wasting any of them.

Just yesterday I met a woman who was dismayed by the inactivity of her husband in regard to life. It is no small thing for a woman when she sees a person that she loves being and doing less than what is available to them. We might think that someone who chooses not to engage is content, but often it proves to be just the opposite.

Women understand how this works, and the example I will use pertains to exactly that, work! I am someone that can work very hard doing yard work, or housework, or any work for that matter, and at the the end of the day the muscles may be sore, but the spirit is soaring. To me, there is noting better than climbing into bed at night and feeling the joy of accomplishment.

So, the question becomes, “Are we investing in what will bring joy and satisfaction?” I can think of only one endeavor that will accomplish this for us, and that is our relationship with God. Where else can we invest and be guaranteed eternal dividends?

We know that one day everything that we have come to rely on here, will no longer matter. What will matter is the relationship what we have fostered here, for there!

Yes we are saved, yes we know that one day we will be with God, but yes we can make it better there as we invest in that relationship here. Remember we are not talking about works here, although I gave as my example physical work, we are talking about relationship.

As we seek God through worship, reading His word, and giving of self, we will understand that there is no greater investment that we can make. After all, we are not investing in a thing, we are investing in One who has already paid out everything for us, literally His life Blood.

Isaiah 2:3 NKJV You will also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

Is God your best option?

Are we making an impact along the way?
