The other day I was reminded of what this blog is intended to do. Its initial purpose was to get women of faith talking. In other words, believing women having meaningful conversation in the marketplace, in their homes, or wherever they found themselves with other women.
So, as I was driving my car I was suddenly mindful of the conversations that have impacted me recently. These conversations have been either between myself and one other woman, or in the company of 4-5 women. I will let you decide for yourself as per the significance of what has been shared. Here are just a few of the topics that I was engaged in over the last week.
Women are concerned about the welfare of their families. This concern is real, and will never go away. The women that I speak to know that the health of the family is critical. Critical not only to the present days, but to the future. They are keen, therefore, that the right things are being spoken and modeled for their children.
Women want to be certain that they are doing all they can to insure a deepening personal relationship with God. They sometimes feel that the days are so consuming that there is little time to actually sit, and pray. For some, this lack of personal time to seek God has reflected badly upon decisions that they are making. They are left with moments of anxiety as they consider if the right actions were taken.
Women are excited about the good things that are happening in their lives. They are encouraged by the opportunities that God has brought forward. They know that these new opportunities are just one example of God working behind the scenes on their behalf. The promises of God can never be diminished, nor forgotten. These women are standing firm in what they know to be God’s will for their lives.
Women have had to battle the enemy daily, but they are quick to remind this adversary who is in charge. They know that by declaring God’s word over their circumstances they are doing what Scripture has told them to do. To stand firm in His truth, to keep their eyes on Jesus, and to not allow the things of this world to pull them under. These women of God quote Scripture when they need to be reminded of who they are in Christ, they call another believing woman for prayer, and they stay the course.
Women seek out other women because they know that there is not only joy in community, but they understand the strength that arises as voices unite in agreement. Women need other women, and they always will.
