Do you clean like you live?

In the spring we had the interior of the house painted, and although we are now enjoying our summer, I have still had to get a handle on getting this house free of painters dust. To a casual glance it looked like all was clean, but if you got into corners you might still find dust from the sanding. So, for this reason I have asked my daughter to come in and give a hand with getting this finally sorted, and she has done an amazing job. When I was watching her clean blinds, shutters, the woodwork and floors, I was impressed. The idiom, “To leave no stone unturned” was certainly applicable, and came to mind immediately!

When we clean, diligently seeking to get dust out from every corner, no matter how distant or how out of sight, it speaks volumes. It tells me that we are not content with having anything hidden away. We don’t allow something to linger and build to where it may have started out as a speck, and now is a massive presence of dust and cobwebs.

Anything that has no business being in our lives needs to be exposed for what it is, cleaned out, and gone for good. We may have to occasionally do a check to make sure that it has not crept back in, but if we do a good cleaning the first time, we will probably be safe.

My house had been sorted from top to bottom, and although I don’t see every surface when I walk around, I know that it is clean. It gives me great pleasure to know that these hidden areas that I knew were not clean are now dust free.

This daughter of mine has done such an amazing job I have asked her to fit me into her schedule on a regular basis. Thankfully, between everything else she does she has willingly agreed to use her skills to keep this house free of dust, just as she does her own. Thank you sweetheart!

1 Peter 2:1-2 MSG So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk. Now, like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God.
