Does summer find you in a season of learning?

The year that I finished ninth grade, I went to summer school to get a higher math grade. What seemed difficult to understand throughout the school year became very clear in those short weeks. I can still see the older gentleman that taught the class, I remember the class room with the windows open, and I even recall how it smelled as I walked into the school.

It is truly amazing how we can be brought back to moments very quickly, and how in those brief moments we can still recapture so much. Just thinking about that time, so many years ago, has given me enough clarity that I believe I could write about it on many different levels.

What I do want to share is that summer, and specifically summer school, is a time for many to excel. That is what I experienced. I had the focus and the time to examine math principles closely, understand the root foundation that is needed to build on, and achieve success!

Presently, my summer began with seeking to know and understand new things of God. One of my favorite Scriptures in the bible is Jeremiah 33:3 which says, “Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” I doubt there is anyone who is reading this post who would not want more understanding and clarity.

I began with reading in the book of John, as directed by the Holy Spirit, which I shared some weeks ago. Essentially, I asked the question and the answer came immediately. In the process, the Holy Spirit has unpacked the Scripture in a new and fresh way. It has been so wonderful.

This door in John further opened up a book by a Christian author, and a teaching series that has been outstanding. Since we are not even into July, I anticipate that there will be much more.

My point today is very simple. Even while we are basking in the freedom that summer offers us in so many ways, there is still time to learn. God never takes a holiday! He is available 24/7 to meet with us one on one.

God knows that what He teaches us won’t end with us! It will be used to speak into the lives of others for His glory, and that sounds like an A plus to me!

Proverbs 4:5 CSB Get wisdom, get understanding; don’t forget or turn away from the words from my mouth.
