Are you living the dream?

Most of us have heard this expression used numerous times by people professing to have it all. They may have it all from their perspective, but many others might agree that they are indeed living the dream. So, what actually is living the dream? Is it lots of friends, a great marriage with kids that are smart, as well as obedient? Maybe it is a dream job that has brought you to the very pinnacle of your career. Or perhaps, it is a combination of all of the above and you are just having a great life. Certainly it all sounds good to me.

Recently, a woman that I know declared that she is living the dream. When she said this it just brought a smile to my face. It was so precious and heartfelt that I knew she was serious. This friend of mine is living in an awesome neighborhood. Not only is it pretty, but the people who comprise this neighborhood are really cool. They are caring, fun, and always reaching out to support one another, and although this is all true, my friend was really speaking about another aspect of her life.

The other aspect that she was speaking of was the freedom to fellowship with other believers, freedom to study the Word of God, and the freedom to meet and pray. She was expressing what each believer in this country should be exclaiming. We should be the happiest people on the planet because we have the truth about who God is and how He feels about us. When so many across the globe are persecuted for what they believe, and do not have the freedom to worship God openly, we are blessed beyond measure.

May I share a bit of information with you before I close? I live in this neighborhood as well, and I can testify that what she says is true. We are indeed living the dream and I believe that we all know it, but it is more than our neighborhood. It is our state. A state that has taken a stand with passing the heartbeat bill, and it is every American that still clings to the belief that we are that one nation under God, with liberty and with justice for all.

Acts 16:25-28 CSB About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the jail were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose. When the jailer woke up and saw that the doors were open, he drew his sword and was going to kill himself, since he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul called out in a loud voice, “Don’t harm yourself, because we’re still here”.

Whose kind are we?
