I know that this may appear to be puzzling question, but with everything I write it is driven by something that is happening in my life. Today is no exception.
Footwear and the things associated with our feet and ankles are really important. I remember as a small girl my parents insisting on getting their five children the very best shoes that fit their budget. My memories were of a small shoe store with boxes and boxes of shoes stacked to the ceiling. When you walked in the store you actually climbed a couple of steps which had you higher than the salesman as you sat on special chairs with small foot rests. It was a very unusual setup, but of course I didn’t recognize it at the time, as I thought all shoe stores were alike.
I am sure that most of us agree that we are highly influenced by our experiences as children. This being the case I will readily admit that not only do I love shoes, but I love shoes of the finest quality. I guess I can thank my wonderful parents for this and I will remind Jack of this very thing when I show him yet another pair of shoes that I have purchased. I guess somethings just can’t be helped.
This question is one that I have pondered recently, as I have become very sensitive to its implication. My sister Diane started with a small irritation on her foot that appeared insignificant in nature, until it actually became a problem. These small, beneath the surface pressure points can lead to areas of concern when allowed to continue without the appropriate intervention.
Think of how we can step into a situation that appears to be safe, yet it proves itself to be everything but, and in the end it has far-reaching effect. The influence and prolonged effect from what appears innocent often causes us to make decisions that have the potential to change life as we know it. For many are the doors that are opened out of an unconscious choice that we make that leads us to places where we never thought we would find ourselves.
There are many lessons for me as I look, in the natural, at the situations that we face in this life that can change the trajectory of our walk. I want to be a scholar when it comes to taking godly wisdom and applying it wisely.
Psalm 18:33 CSB He makes my feet like the feet of deer and sets me securely on the heights.
Psalm 18:36 CSB You make a spacious place beneath me for my steps, and my ankles do not give way.
