Are you believing what you speak?

I think for some this question may lead to an aha moment. While we think we may be in agreement with the words that come our of our very mouth, is it possible that we actually experience conflict when we know those words are false? For the believer, we would hope that we would experience a Holy Spirit conviction, but we know there are people who are required to say a particular thing in order to keep their job, even if they don’t believe it, but this in itself can be very dangerous. In other words, where do you draw the line? Truthfully, repeat a lie often enough and you’ll begin to believe it is true, even if you started out knowing it was not!

As a believer you and I know that we have power in the words that we speak, and that power will either be a creative power, to bless, or a power to curse. We are talking about responsibility and accountability. We also know that this world is all about compromise. We have seen it clearly in the last couple of years to the extent that it mimics bulling, and no one that I know likes a bully.

When we hear a person speaking from fear we know that they have already turned the page on faith. They have folded, and are now subject to wherever that spirit of fear takes them. Can they turn away? Of course, but it means acknowledging that they have believed a lie over trusting in God. It means that they have to seek God and repent for believing that He could not keep them safe.

We are all responsible for the words that we speak because words put into motion an action that has consequences. Those consequences will bring life or death, spiritually or physically, and the latter may actually hurt those that we love.

Proverbs 12:17 Amplified Bible He who speaks truth (when he testifies) tells what is right, but a false witness utters deceit (in court).

Psalm 15:1-2 Amplified Bible Oh Lord, who may lodge (as a guest) in Your tent? Who may dwell (continually) on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity and straight of character, and works righteousness, and speaks and holds truth in his heart.
