Scripture gives us many instances, where it is recorded that the heavens opened, from Genesis all the way to Revelation. We read how this was witnessed by those that truly had been given eyes to see. As I read the various accounts in Scripture I imagine what it would be like to personally experience this, and how it requires a certain posturing, an awareness /expectation. and belief. But, in reality maybe it is nothing more than a gift from God. Perhaps it will be just a suddenly!
God’s Word gives us the answers that we seek and need, the signs to look for as we prepare ourselves, and the motivation that will keep us moving in the right direction. What brings the motivation is that burning desire to see the supernatural manifested here in the natural realm in which we live. It is desiring to experience the glory of God and be changed in the process. This speaks of a hunger in us to step into something new, and most likely terrifying at the same time.
Can you imagine that you would ever be the same if you saw the heavens open? Exactly, neither would I. But, I am ready and willing to be changed by such an encounter. Of course, once you’ve experienced this there is no going back. I am ok with this, how about you?
Ezekiel 1:1 NOW IT came about (when I was) in my thirtieth year (of life), on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles beside the River Chebar (in Babylonia), the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven open, and behold, a white horse, and He who was riding it is called Faithful and True (trustworthy, loyal, incorruptible, steady), and in righteousness He judges and wages war (on the rebellious nations).
