Where did the Lord want to take you this week?

Where did Jesus want to take you and did you go? Were you quick to respond to his leading, or did you hesitate? Were you reluctant to follow because you knew it would cost you something?

To follow the Lord is always costly. To think otherwise is just not true. We do give up things that we think are important, things we think we need, when we chose to follow Jesus, but we do come to understand that what we gain is far greater. In Matthew 19 Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler who had everything of material wealth, but who wanted to understand how he could inherit the kingdom of God. He ended up walking away from Jesus because he was unable to give up his lifestyle of privilege.

This young man did not see that the greater gain, that of eternal value, is not tied to the temporal things we cling to in this world. It really becomes a matter of letting go of everything that desires to exalt itself above Jesus. We go where He leads us because He is our treasure!

Matthew 6:19-20 Do not store up for yourselves (material) treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
