How committed are you?

My grandson has a running coach that gets the very best out of those in his care. He has a simple philosophy that he uses to train these young people. Coach says, “How you practice is how you’ll run.” In other words, press in hard at all times, and when the actual time comes to run your race, you will be conditioned to meet every challenge with excellence.

This man desires to see his team be very successful in the races in which they compete. I think that is precisely how it should be. If you are going to do something, then you want to do it with everything you have, to see the outcome be one that will, at the very least, equal all your efforts.

Our heavenly Father is all about us having the very best that He has to offer. As we press in to Him in worship, prayer, and into that quiet place of His presence, we will not be disappointed. He will meet us, and teach us all things that are necessary to run our very best race. Our race has an eternal perspective, and an eternal worth that will not disappoint.

1 Corinthians 9:25 Now every athlete who (goes into training and ) competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self—control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we (do it to receive) an imperishable (crown that cannot wither).

Are you prepared to obey?
