Healing is a subject that has many people on different sides of the camp. By this, I am referring to Christians who believe they are walking in understanding, and yet there seem to be gaps in what is Scriptural, and what is not.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53 that we are healed by the stripes of Jesus, meaning that the scourging that was inflicted upon His body enabled us to receive healing in our own. This tells me that there was a transference that happened with each lash that Jesus received across His back. Furthermore, this means that whatever disease, sickness, or physical infirmity has come on our bodies in this life, all of those were accounted for in the wounds displayed on the body of Jesus.
So, now the question becomes this, “Why are so many people still walking in sickness and disease?” This is a question I believe most of us have asked ourselves, or might I even say have taken it a step further when we have asked, “Why, Lord?”
Our pastor recently gave an amazing testimony of personal healing. One of the most poignant points he made was that when he received the diagnosis, before he went a step further, he took it to the Lord. He told us that prior to sharing it, asking for prayer, or proceeding with aggressive medical treatment he went to the great Physician for His instructions. His message to us was that he needed to get sorted with God before anyone else. Some may consider this foolish, or gutsy, but I think it a very natural stance to take when you believe in the literal translation of the Scripture in Isaiah.
When we stand in agreement with the Healer then we are in agreement with the healing. And not that we will be healed one day, but that our healing happened for us two thousand years ago. For all whose bodies would be sick with illness and disease, our miracles happened for us then. When Jesus was about to take His last breath on the cross He said, “It is finished!” All things were now accomplished that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.
This is my agreement, regardless of whether sickness attempts to manifest on my body, or not. I profess that I was healed then, from whatever would like to influence my life today. My prayer is always the same. I tell my body to get in agreement with God’s Word, get out of rebellion, and take your healing. God is faithful to His Word and His promises. I have experienced healing, have seen my husband healed, and have heard a testimony of healing from my pastor who was diagnosed with cancer.
My agreement will always be with Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals!
Isaiah 53:4-6 CSB Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds. We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished Him for the iniquity of us all.
