Do you prefer to be fed or feed yourself?

Depending on the situation, we will likely find we can benefit from both!

I have six grandchildren, with the youngest two still babies, and it is always a gift to feed them. Watching as they open their mouths for what they have come to recognize as good. The spoon is quite small, but it works perfectly for their size.

I have come to understand something signifiant about myself. When it comes to speaking to women, I like to give a spoonful, and then immediately hand them a shovel. This is because I feel we should all dig for ourselves. I believe we experience a difference when we see the fruit of our own excavation take root. It is similar to when we have to work for what we want, instead of another doing that for us. We appreciate it so much more.

I am a person who takes lots of notes when I am listening to a speaker. It helps me to remember the important elements of what has been said, thus giving me a point of reference as I ponder their worth. I realize that If I desire to benefit from this individuals insight, I have work to do to make it personal for me.

Such is the word of God. As we begin reading we will see doors open, and we should expect to  find ourselves deep into God's anointed revelation. For our part, we need only to continue turning the pages as we dig for truth. God will surely bring into our focus, from His word, what we need.

2 Timothy 3;16-17 NIV  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be throughly equipped for every good work.
