What spiritual fight are you fighting?

Do you recognize you are behind enemy lines?

With any fight there is resistance, but if we are going to have any advantage over that resistance, we need to know who we are fighting. Once we have identified the enemy, it becomes easier to put together a plan. Furthermore, how we implement that plan is critical to the overall outcome. I am not a general, but I do know enough about military strategy to know an important fact. When you come up against the enemy, you do not move forward without a plan in place.

We know that as believers there are evil forces working against us on a daily basis. Paul spoke about this in his letter to the Ephesians at some length, and because we are loved by God, we should assume we are disliked by the enemy. Actually, if we are being totally honest the term is despised.

Take heart with this thought, however. Let's remember that you and I are only second to how our Lord is despised by the devil. This reality gives me comfort, knowing that I am in His company means I have nothing to fear. He is our Commander-in-Chief who is readily equipped to lead us out of harms way.

Ephesians 6:12 NIV For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
