Will we listen and obey?

I have several friends that seem to be leaving what has been familiar for many years and making radical changes in their lives. While movement, or progression are a normal part of life, lately I sense that transition has become the new norm.

When I think of the women that I know who are in a place of change, it occurs to me that they have not made these decisions lightly. There has been much time spent in prayer, discerning that this is God orchestrated, and seeking counsel from sources that they trust.

Another important perspective is obedience. My daughter and her husband will ask a simple question of their children as they instruct them in obedience. They ask them if they will listen and obey.

When we know we are being called out by the Lord we have a choice. We can listen and obey, or we can ignore and linger. The danger with lingering is that circumstances may change and where once there was favor, now it has lifted.

James 1:22 NIV Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
