For the last four days I have been getting ready for painters. That means I have removed everything off the walls, put away any thing that is easily broken, and basically done a spring clean. I am now confident that the house is ready. My intention was to get things prepared, so that they can do what they need to do without any unnecessary distraction.
Like I said it has taken me four days to get this prep works done, and I must add that it has not been easy. Dust has been flying as I have moved furniture and cleaned in those hard to reach places.
Anytime we are called to a place of preparation it usually is about much more than the obvious. As I have spent concentrated effort during these days, I have not missed the voice of the Holy Spirit as He has been speaking. It has been a voice that has spoken to me about not wasting valuable time, and about being ready in season and out of season.
The message that I take away is one where I am ready to do what I need to do when I am called to do it! I know that is a mouthful, but basically it means being ready to move when called. It means that my house is in order so that nothing gets in the way. Although my bags may not be packed, I have identified them and know what has to be put into them at the right time. It means being prepared now for tomorrow.
This has been a time where I have spent hours alone. I have been available to fellowship with God through prayer and worship, as I worked. So, although my muscles are feeling the work I have done, my spirit is refreshed and primed!
2 Timothy 4:2-5 CSB Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season: rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching. For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
