Do you have an updated "bucket list" to share?

Wednesday morning I was with a small group of women that I meet with prior to our weekly Bible study. It is a time when we get to discuss openly and frankly things that are going on in our lives. Our discussion is usually related to what we are doing in the study, but sometimes we take a different route. Yesterday was one of those occasions. We had a lively discussion about our “bucket lists” and where we stand with them.

What I expected in our conversation was that everyone would have some sort of list, and this proved to be very true. Even if it was not a list where we were currently ticking off the boxes, it nonetheless was something that we were able to pull up with very little effort. To hear of the things that these women were planning to do, or had already accomplished, was exciting. In fact, hearing of the varied ideas of places and things that individuals hoped to do was inspirational to many of us.

It is so important when you can share your dreams and aspirations with others who are truly interested. Having this opportunity to engage and brainstorm new adventures is contagious. Without having to even leave the confines of the room you get a sense of where people have been, where they are going, and how important getting there is to them. Aside from the places that women hoped to experience there were personal goals that some had set for themselves that were very meaningful.

My take away from this small exchange with the women that morning was that there is so much to be gained when we take the time to listen to one another. Sometimes we need to have a moment to just share our thoughts about things such as a bucket list. There are so many occasions when we are seriously concerned about the state of our world, our family, and many other events that invade our space each day. But, every once in awhile we need to allow ourselves the freedom to speak about what we are excited about doing, and allow others to get excited for us, too.

Psalm 19:1-2 CSB The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of His hands. Day after day they put out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge.
