Do you love women like I love women?

Now you might answer this question by saying that you do love women, but then add, not all women. What I realize is that I have a love for women that runs deep, and despite knowing that there are many women that I could not come into agreement with, it does not change my statement. For me, the women in my life and those that I meet in the marketplace are amazing individuals. What I have come to understand is that God has given me a supernatural love for women, and it is not just because I am a women myself.

You have heard me share many times that each week I am in the company of believing women. Yesterday as I looked into these beautiful faces I felt such a joy and privilege in knowing them. We share time together as women who love the Lord and who seek after Him. I feel at home with these women because we are “like- minded.” We clearly are all unique, and yet our belief in God binds us together.

I do believe that when I was very young I did not always get what women were about, but then I was a girl still trying to understand myself. It takes years of maturing to fully appreciate the beauty and complexities of being woman.

There are many women in the Bible that I admire for their courage, their boldness, and their willingness to risk their reputation for the call that was upon their life. It was this willingness to say yes to God’s call that has made them pillars in the Bible, and not because they did everything right, but because they stepped out when it was most needed. They made a difference in the time and place in which they found themselves. This is why we can look at the lives of these women who lived 2000 years ago and admire their stand.

The other day a woman that I know gave me a beautiful compliment. She told me she was inspired by the example of love that I show towards women of all ages, and that my desire to see them walking in the fullness of their calling, and in the knowledge of how much they are loved by God is a joy to behold.

I do believe that it is something that I will never forget. For me, it means that the love I feel from the Father is being used in such a way that others feel that same love. A young woman I know made a simple but profound statement when she said, “At the end of the day what we all want is to be seen and loved.”

Luke 1:35-38 CSB The angel replied to her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. And consider your relative Elizabeth- even she has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called childless. For nothing is impossible with God.”

“I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary. “May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.
