There are many deceptive ideas that are trying to capture our attention. In fact, there are so many false teachings that are being hailed as good these days that many people are falling victim. They are becoming casualties of this age when good is being called evil, and evil is being called good. Where once these ideas where rooted out for what they were, now they are often missed all together.
This week I have been traveling with my oldest daughter to visit family in another state. We have spent time in airports and in places that are outside of our normal routine back home. It has given us much time to talk to people that we have met in stores and restaurants.
The other day there was one young man that we met in a grocery store that really stood out from the rest. He was someone that we both immediately liked, and his thoughts were the same for us. Before, we walked away from making our purchases he took the time to tell us that we carried something very special. Something that he was aware not everyone was carrying. Apparently, we made such an impression on him that he hoped we would come again before we traveled back home.
This young man saw the light that we carry as believing women. He recognized that we were different because of the words that we were speaking, as well as our openness to spend time in meaningful conversation with him. Our honest conversation told him that we considered him, and the time we spent with him, as being very valuable to us.
As I write this post, I can see this young man’s face, and I know that in a few short minutes we made a considerable impression on him. An impression that will be remembered for good, and not for evil.
Matthew 5: 14-16 CSB “You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
