Do you believe your gifts make room for you?

I heard a woman declare years ago that our gifts make room for us, but I am convinced I did not fully understand her meaning at the time. Fast forward to the present and I can certainly attest to it being true. For some of us it merely is about timing and growing into our gifting. With maturity comes a confidence to get behind those gifts, trusting that they are real, and that they are of value outside of ourselves. Once again it is about growing up and into who we really are, and understanding that our gifts play a major role. Not only a major role, but a vital role in our spiritual life.

God has given us individual gifts to be used during our time here on earth, and the Holy Spirit teaches us how to best function in those areas. What is interesting is that often it may appear that our gifts are the same as another person, but each of us will operate differently in those gifts. It is the same God DNA running through our veins, but how it manifests will be personal. We can trust that the Holy Spirit made no mistake when He gave us what He knew we needed, not just for us, but to pour out for others.

Last week I was in the company of many unique women who are all walking out their giftings. What was truly beautiful was observing how they carried themselves, operated within those areas, and how lovingly they made room for each other at the table. When there is no comparison, but genuine love flowing, it is both encouraging and refreshing. It is this kind of sisterly openness driven by a spiritual awareness of each other that accomplishes so much in the lives of women.

Truly the Holy Spirit knows exactly what is needed when He distributes the gifts, and where He is taking us. When God opens a door for us, there is no man, or woman, who can close that door. We are meant to walk right through that door into a place that has been prepared for us, and where we will exercise our gifts to the fullest.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 CSB Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 CSB A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the performing of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another interpretation of tongues. One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills.
