For the last couple of weeks the states have seen extreme weather variations. We have experienced cold, snow, hail, tornadoes, flooding in the west and midwest, while the south east is baking from high heat. While traveling through Texas a friend from Georgia called to say that the state was in a heat wave.
As I was driving along I was picturing the weather and places that I most enjoy. I am drawn to the cool temperatures of the mountains where all is green, and you can smell the pine trees. To me this is a setting that is powerful, while at the same time peaceful, and one which continually draws me back.
As we roll alone in life we rely on God to keep us ahead of the storms that try to overtake us. Often it is when we are in the midst of a storm of substantial magnitude that we realize how many storms we have been spared.
One of my dear friends is in the midst of such a storm as she stands with her brother. This man of faith is up against a storm that has the potential to change his life in a dramatic way. Yet, he is facing his personal storm with courage and trust, as he walks out the many extremes of these days.
The storms will always be somewhere on the horizon, but it becomes our belief in God’s character to see us through that will ultimately save the day, and bring us home.
John 16:33 CSB “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
