This is a question that can go in a few directions, but for the sake of this post, it is really about doing what you feel you must do. There are many things that I want to do, some that I hope to do, but central to them all is my desire to speak to women.
The other day I was thinking of the way that I meet the most people, and I realize that few women pass me that I don’t try to have a word or two with. Sounds like an impossible task, but it is one that comes very easy to me. In fact, it is what I long to do. Sometimes all it takes is a smile to open the door.
Conversations with women have been an all important part of my ministry for many years. What is interesting is when we do things before we are fully aware that it is actually going somewhere, and taking us right along with it!
I believe that the question is just this, “Are we, without realizing it, doing what we were always called to do?” For me, since I know that I am compelled to reach out to women to fulfill my purpose, then I have to believe that God is using me to somehow help in facilitating their purpose. I must tell you that the weight and honor of such a calling does not escape me. As believers we know that where God is taking us is never just for us, but for those that will come along too. He will use our willingness to respond to our calling as a testimony to reach many.
As I listen to many who give powerful testimonies, sharing what God has done for them, they are full of purpose. God uses testimonies to move powerfully in the lives of those who pick them up. When we hear of how God has moved in a person’s life it brings something to our own. In fact, it is that something that will change our focus, and perspective. It gives us a different point of reference that allows us to see our own circumstances with fresh eyes.
A testimony that does not cause us to examine our walk, or to feel encouraged and strengthen, is really not a testimony. It may be a nice story, but a nice story that has no life transforming power, remains just a nice story.
