Those of you who have been reading his blog will recall that we just returned from a road trip out west. What you may also recall is that on that trip I shared about sensing that there was change coming. The change that is coming has not been totally revealed yet, but I do know that it is coming. My husband felt the shift, and friends who have been partnering with us in prayer for some time now have sensed it is near.
The other day I found my husband in his closet sorting through some clothes that no longer fit him properly. In the last couple of years he has gotten very conscious of good health. What he has realized is that his jackets, suits, trousers, and even dress shirts are much too large. For us women, we know that this is not a bad problem to have, and honestly it is the same with Jack. He is more than willing to let go of the now ill fitting clothes occupying space in his closet for clothes that fit correctly.
As I was in prayer this morning I knew that the Holy Spirit was taking me back to the other day and the clothes in the closet. What I was hearing was that it is time to streamline, and to eliminate excessive baggage.
We have all heard someone refer to excessiveness as being about having more than we need, and that more isn’t necessarily good, it is just more. Simply put it is just about having too much. After looking at the holes in the closet now, where what no longer worked is gone, I truly understand it.
There is another significant point as well.
We really want the right fit. This fit may be clothes for sure, but really we want the right fit in the things we are doing in the kingdom. The fit is so important because if we are doing what we are not called to do, then we are missing what we absolutely should be doing!
As with all that I write I know that God is speaking to me personally before I type a single word for anyone else to read. This post certainly is about what I am sensing for us, in this season of our walk, but I believe it will speak to many of you as well.
My thoughts are about simplicity, about having the freedom to move away from what no longer fits, or maybe never actually did fit, and becoming unburdened from anything that would keep us from moving quickly when God calls us out.
You may relate if a similar season is what you are being called into, or it may be for another day and time. For the majority of us, however, I do know that having the right fit is paramount to everything that we do today, and will be doing tomorrow.
Philippians 3:12-14 Passion Translation I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into His abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this, however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.
